AISD considers private school for at risk students (KVUE-TV Austin)

The district has selected 648 students who are in danger of failing and falling behind. Those students would be sent to the private school for about one year, before returning to their home school.

Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow was a homeschool student, playing sports in Florida’s public schools before gaining fame with the Florida Gators. But Alabama’s homeschool students aren’t allowed equal access to extra-curricular activities in public or private schools.

El Campo student honored at Oral Roberts University (El Campo Leader-News)

Brittany Hurst Fox of El Campo has been named to the President’s Honor Roll for her outstanding academic performance at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Okla. Fox graduated from home school in 2006. She is a senior majoring in business management.

Spelling bee champ crowned (Ravalli Republic)

Reigning champ T.J. Nickish nailed another Ravalli County Spelling Bee title Tuesday at Hamilton Middle School. Nickish, who bested runner-up Sarah Mason of Stevensville, is a home school student.

WEC girls in tourney final (Richmond Times-Dispatch)

Carley Warthan scored 18 points, and Jordan Torrence added 16 as West End Christian defeated Spirit Home School 41-37 in the semifinals of the VCAA tournament last night. Morgan Thomson led Spirit with 10 points and 15 rebounds. West End advances to play the winner of Victory Christian-Central Virginia Home School for the VCAA title. SPIRIT HOME SCHOOL (16-6)
