I’ve actually used some of these techniques when I threw it down in the streets. My go to move was the Advanced Striking – Ball Flurries (4:14). Ball punches are highly underrated and also highly homorated. Use them at your own risk, but prepare for incredible results. Thanks to Columbus Hype for the video!
Thu 23 Jul 2009Life at Home , Good Things about Homeschooling The quote above was from a music review of the Boston based string band Jaded Mandolin. I like to think homeschoolers can follow the same notion. That kid of ours in the picture to the left would likely not have discovered the banjo if not for home education. We are huge fans of good bluegrass/folk music. Right now, the boys are at String Camp learning some neat tricks for mandolin, banjo, fiddle and cello. (The fiddle magically

This year we will be homeschooling all three kiddos. I have been slowly trying to make my lists and sort out what needs to be done and what needs to be changed before we get started. Because holy cow, if I'm not more organized this year, this will not work. Or, it might work, but I will lose my sanity or something. While ultimately I would like to move towards a more open-ended project-based way of learning, the boys are at that point where they are working on basic math and reading. And they

Earlier this week, our webmaster reported on the now infamous State of Missouri Information Analysis Center missive, “The Modern Militia Movement.” Less jaded political activists reacted with the expected righteous indignation while others subtly exploited the report with the intent to whip supporters of causes as benign as medical marijuana and homeschooling into a frenzy. Alas, you can’t fool KMOV St. Louis, Channel 4 . They know an enemy of the state when they see one; one of the

Hey, it turns out this week is Spring Break around here. I didn't really know until DH told me. As homeschoolers, the calendar (and the alarm clock) means little to us. My kids sure knew though, and they are aghast that I am still making them do schoolwork. I have a feeling that our summer break will begin early and go late, so I definitely want them to finish their math and science in the next few weeks. I did consent to letting them ditch the other subjects for the week, so they can fini

Maddie decided that she wanted to start her own business, so I helped her set up an etsy shop -- Maddie's Weaving Workshop. She is *so* excited about this and she is keeping a journal documenting all the details. This is one fun part of homeschooling -- we are turning this into a school project and I think it will teach her a lot about working and finance as well as how to use Photoshop and other computer tools. And she is having so much fun. I remember when I was a kid and I had a big plan o
