Homeschooling Review: New Testament Activity-Pak by Amy Pak (Homeschool in the Woods)

Amy Pak has ruined me. Her New Testament Activity-Pak is the first lapbook our family has ever completed, the standard of excellence has been set, and no other lapbook will ever measure up –I’m sure of it. I’ve never seen a lapbook so elegant in execution, so beautifully illustrated, and such creative, integrated use of lapbooking elements. No doubt about it, I’m done for.

Homeschooling Review: Homeschooling ABCs by Terri Johnson

I have been preparing to homeschooling my oldest daughter since before her birth. During that time, my learning philosophy has shifted, our family has come to Christ, and all of our priorities have changed. For the past two years I’ve felt like I’m learning about homeschooling all over again, from a perspective that honours God and His word. I’ve diligently read, researched, signed up for freebies and newsletters, and then it was time. Not an arbitrary start date (though we are registering

Another newbie here!

Hello all! My name is Gretchen and I am so excited to be a new part of the team here at The Homeschool Post! I’d love to share a little bit about my life and my homeschooling journey. I am mom to three girls ages 5, 7, and 9 who are all so wild, creative, and different. Our school days are filled with the basics with an emphasis on literature and history. My oldest is a reader and an artist, and would rather we just skip the whole math thing, permanently if you please! My middle child lo

Wading Through the Murky Water of the “teen” Years

Teen girls. I have to admit they used to scare me a bit. Now I’m on the verge of having 2 and I love them! This year the opportunity to lead a home school group of girls in Vicki Courtney’s study, His Girl has been one of the most rewarding adventures of the year for me! (her site offers some great resources for Be~tween and Teen Virtue books too!) In this study we’ve been tackling all the issues that have plagued girls since the dawn of time, only made worse by the media and societ

Homeschool Memoirs #27: Four Legged Friends

Something often overlooked on our blogs is the ‘other’ family member that sleeps at the end of the bed. We fail to mention our fur children even though they are a huge part of our lives. Is your ‘pet’ is really the king or queen of the house? Maybe you just tolerate having an animal because the husband or kids can’t live without one. Or some of you might be ‘animal free’, take issue with ‘just another responsibility’, or find that you’re deathly allergic to dander.

Homeschool Review: Spears Art Studio: K – 8 Christian Art Curriculum, A Teacher’s Manual by Diane S. Spears

I know that I’m not alone as a homeschooling mother who has an aspiring artist in her care. I’m not exceptionally talented artistically (that’s an understatement), and engaging my children in artistic instruction seems well beyond my abilities. Educator and artist Diane Spears wrote her Christian art curriculum precisely for teachers like me; those who’d like to provide fine arts instruction to their pupils but aren’t sure where to start. Spears Art Studio: K – 8 Christian Art Curriculum,
