Oh the Intelligence – A Question for Consumers!
My mother has decided that the twins are in need of some serious intellectual stimulation. I agree, but putting 3 year old twins into preschool isn’t an option…there is no discount until the year before they go to kindergarten. Add to that the extra expense of homeschooling our oldest son this year and…well…yeah, it’s just not reasonable. As I have mentioned in the past, I plan to home-preschool them, and I have some great resources. I have to admit right here and now though that the

Interview with Ang from “Hanging Out the Wash”
Go Back to Our Readers Blogs “Hanging Out the Wash” http://hangingoutthewash.blogspot.com I love being part of a conversation. So often my blog is a tool that helps me organize my thoughts and ground my priorities. Life with little ones can be so chaotic, and it’s easy to “major on the minors” in parenting and family life. I started blogging about my watercolour painting in October of 2006. I started my “mommy blog” in June 2008. I blog about homeschooling, c

New Plan for Family Devotions
Larry likes to mix things up a bit with our family devotions, and we’re changing things up again! It’s a very exciting transition though, and very homeschooly – if there’s such a word! We’ve read through all of Genesis and Exodus over the past half-year, dug around in a story bible, drawn lots of pictures, and now we’re going to start again in the creation week with 106 Days of Creation Studies from Simply Charlotte Mason. I recently reviewed this title at Eclectic Homeschool Online here .

Homeschooling Book Review: WriteShop Primary Book A, Teachers Guide and Activity Set Worksheet Pack by Nancy I. Sanders
As a first-time homeschooling mother of a young scholar who’ll be officially entering grade one this fall, I sometimes wonder when all the various language arts skills will pull together and ‘click’. We do phonics, spelling, reading practice, copywork, read-alouds, among other sssubject mattters, but when will they all merge together into a comprehensive whole? When will my daughter realize that not only can she consume the written word, she can also create it? When will she grasp a vision for w

Homeschooling Review: Puppet Tools
Think back to the last time you made a puppet. Was it in elementary school, summer camp or sunday school? Chances are it was made from a brown paper bag and didn’t hold your interest for long. Puppetools.com founder Jeffrey Peyton takes puppet-making to a new level.

Homeschooling Review: Artistic Pursuits, Grades K-3 Book One, An Introduction to the Visual Arts by Brenda Ellis
If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it…well, several times. I’m not naturally an arts and crafts mommy. When I think about whipping out the art supplies my first thought is – mess. My second thought – what will we make? My poor hands-on-learner longs for art, passionately and we don’t do enough. I think that’s about to change! Our family recently received a copy of Brenda Ellis’ Artistic Pursuits, Grades K-3 Book One, An Introduction to the Visual Arts and I’m in love! Into
