My Report Card
We’re with 2 weeks of the end of the first quarter, here in the Fiddle House of Higher Learning. A much deserved two week respite is then scheduled for the teacher. Along with some anti-twitching medication and muscle relaxants. I’ve had a number of e-mails inquiring how our homeschool year is shaping up since I changed curriculum.

First Day of School
Growing up in the North, school never started until after Labor Day. Living now in the South, it comes much earlier. Today is the first day of school for most districts around metro Atlanta, and I have 2 in high school; one a freshman and one a junior. For the freshman, it’s his first day of public school, and he’s looking forward to it. All our kids have been home schooled through 8th grade. One reason (of many) that we do this, relates to this article talking about Delaware schools. I

A Workbox System That Works!
The Back to School Edition! We’re right smack dab in the middle of our third week of homeschool. The kids don’t mind going back to school in the middle of July since it’s 135 degrees outside. And they know that they are going to get the entire month of December off! I wanted to talk about something I

Life After Home School Education-Secondary Schools & Universities
Life after home school education for students is something that always concerns parents. This is understandable as once they have completed their secondary studies they’ll be looking to join other non-homeschooled students at secondary schools (often private when it comes to homeschooled children) and then on to universities and colleges. For a few the first few steps after home school education can even be somewhat problematic when it comes to getting accepted into college. This is normally o

There are currently two worlds which provide different games and activit

Crazy, lazy days
Sounds like an oxymoron of a title doesn’t it? But that’s what it feels like. Lazy, laid back, but still rather crazy days. It’s summer so we’re not homeschooling much but it’s the height of planner season so I’m filling orders almost every day –and drinking loads of fresh brewed iced tea (lemon, no sugar, thank you). I am ever so grateful that the planners are selling well because my husband is currently out of work (laid off permanently) and oh my it’s such a blessing to have him here.

Homeschool Art Curriculum – The How, Ideas, Lessons & Classes
The choice of homeschool art curriculum that one can choose to teach to their children is just one great example of the flexibility that homeschooling allows parents when it comes to teaching their children what they want them to be taught. General Principals In general the homeschooling option allows parents to take control and teach their children the things they would want them to know, as long as in doing so they do also meet the district standards by also teaching everything that other
